What is resilience? Why do we need it? How do we get more resilient?

These are the premises for this course, taught by a qualified therapist and resilience coach using a theoretical framework as well as practical, hands-on learning. The interactive teaching model includes TED talks, podcasts, articles, coaching tools and more. Participants will gain an understanding of resilience and the scientific basis for how we can grow our own resilience. Prosilience is resilience in advance of future challenges: this approach works with wellbeing and a salutogenic approach to health – physical, mental and emotional. Starting with self-reflection of the past and intention-setting towards the future, we look at the knowing versus doing gap, and how to bridge it using small but meaningful shifts to support participants in their own resilience-building. Resilience is not something we are born with: it can be learnt and it provides a protective factor against burn-out, emotional distress and carer fatigue. The tools shared and used in the workshop will provide a launchpad for self-awareness and personal development to help participants feel empowered to make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives, and thus to prioritise self-care.
