This online course is designed to teach participants with a prior knowledge of Italian at a basic level, and it is suitable for those who previously attended the Italian for beginners Summer School course.The lectures will be interactive and will comprise conversation and grammar as well as cultural and creative aspects in order to improve the students’ communicational skills and their knowledge of Italian structures and vocabulary in meaningful contexts. The lectures will help participants with speaking in real-life situations, giving their opinions about basic topics, listening to and understanding key information, and reading and writing short passages. The course will provide participants with a sound base of skills and language required for further studies in Italian, as well as work or tourism needs.

Chiara Ronchetti is a PhD student and Lecturer of Italian at the University of Cape Town, where she reasearches on languages teaching and curriculum development. She holds a Bachelor degree in Languages from the University of Milan, a Master in Linguistics and Communication from the University of Siena and she has a Master in Digital Education from the University of Florence. In 2012 she came to South Africa and has been teaching languages for the past 14 years to students in Milan, Maputo, East London, Pretoria and Cape Town.
