THE PHYSICALITY OF TOUCH
Jill Trappler, artist, teacher
Monday 18–Friday 22 January < 9.30 am–12.30 pm < COURSE FEES R3 35; Staff and students R1 75
Maximum number of participants 20
During these five sessions we will investigate the way we touch and respond to different materials (probably four or five different experiences). Through this, we will explore the following questions:
Do mark and texture guide the way light and shadow move on a surface?
Do our eyes and hands, while in action, change the rhythms of our thinking?
Physical encounters with various materials may raise new questions about how our imaginations are charged and assist in informing what we want to make and the way we look.
The course is not intended to produce completed work but rather to add skills and ideas to your existing (or non-existent) practice.
